New moon in Gemini
13:30 New moon in Gemini at 9º. The ruler of this new moon, Mercury, is retrograde, square Saturn, and trine Pluto. How are we going to learn from our mistakes, and grow from them?
Congratulations on making it out of eclipse season. This is the first lunation (new or full moon) that isn’t an eclipse since mid-April.
A chart for a new moon can be predictive of themes for the coming month, as it is the beginning of a new lunar cycle, which lasts about 27 days. The next lunar month (30 May to 29 June) requires corrections of longstanding misunderstandings, not without effort. Patience is key. Learning and absorbing information. Try to feel comfortable asking questions, or challenging certain orthodoxies that are held as indispensable truth.
Wednesday, June 1
The moon enters Cancer
07:48 The moon enters Cancer, its home sign. Its final aspect is a sextile to Mercury, and opposition to Pluto.
Over the coming three days of the moon’s transit through Cancer, there is an ability to replenish, absorb shocks, and move through the tides of emotion. Once one moves through all of the stages of grief, they can release into a sort of purged-out rebirth. Communicating feelings or impressions comes easily.
Friday, May 3
Mercury retrograde ends & the moon enters Leo.
10:00 Mercury retrograde ends at 26º Taurus. The days that Mercury retrograde begins and ends are usually those that require the most patience, so give yourself and others a long leash.
20:37 The moon enters Leo. The last aspect of the moon is Leo is a square to Mercury, at the degree that it stationed.
Some things won’t budge and you simply have to move around. People can be stubborn with their ideas. Some mountains are blasted with dynamite so a train can move through it. Some mountains have roads built into the curvature. There might be a shortage of dynamite, requiring you to enlist a team to hack away at the mountains with pick axes. Or maybe you have to take a longer route, because a direct path isn’t possible when there’s a mountain in the way.
Saturday, June 4
Saturn retrograde begins, squaring Mercury and the nodes.
23:46 Saturn, the planet of consequences, begins its retrograde at 25º. This retrograde station is happening with a tight square to Mercury (also stationing), and the nodes of fate.
I see a lot of rule-bending, and people getting around things on technicalities. If winning is not an option, people could cheat, scam, lie. I sense that there can be a refusal to engage or sitting out and choosing not to play the game. Spoil sports, it’s your time to shine! But also, rules can be changed to be more inclusive or to better fit reality. It will just take some effort to adjust them.
I wrote about Saturn retrograde with my colleague Annabel Gat for this new article for VICE.
“Saturn is the planet of limitations, responsibilities, and time, and its glyph looks like a little sickle, which is used to harvest wheat. When Saturn is retrograde, it can signal a delay to this harvest, usually by no fault but bad timing. When Saturn is retrograde, there can be a relaxation of rules and laws so that something more complete can take its place in the future. Saturn is walls, boundaries, skin—without walls there would be no shelter and everything would fall apart! It’s the glue that holds everything together. Saturn retrograde is a time when people let their hair down.”

Saturn retrograde will end on 23 October, 2022. Saturn is an outer planet so the retrograde period’s significances are not as noticeable as they are on the dates of the stations (4 Jun, 23 Oct). It’s not like Mercury retrograde, where the inconveniences are obvious. Themes of Saturn run deep and are noticed on a collective level. See if you can tap in.

I’m starting to experiment with looking to the final aspect of the moon in relationship to the traditional planets, since all of the final aspects are going to be to Pluto, since it’s at the latest degree of any planet right now… The moon’s last aspect in an event chart signifies the outcome of the event
