Mick Jagger's Mega Leo Stellium
Larger than life conjunction of Jupiter, Pluto, the sun, Mercury, the north node, the part of fortune, Chiron, and the Ic.
If someone’s birthday is during Leo season, then they are a Leo sun. Leo is ruled by the sun. Fame is one of the significations of the sun (and therefore it’s home sign, Leo), so it’s easy to find Leo superstars.
Leo du Jour: Mick Jagger

Michael Philip Jagger is the front man and singer of The Rolling Stones, one of the most famous rock bands in human history.
British musician, singer, songwriter and actor, best known as the lead vocalist and a founder member of the Rolling Stones. One of the pop world's biggest stars, he has appeared in over 20 films, including movies based on his life and band. While continuing to tour and release albums with The Stones, Jagger has also had a successful solo career since 1985. - Astro Databank
Mick Jagger’s Gemini rising puts all of his Leo planets in the 3rd house of writing and communication (and siblings, but will get to that later). What made him famous? Songwriting and performing the songs. And probably other things that someone of a wiser generation could tell you.
Among his Leo stellium is included: the sun, Jupiter, Pluto, the Ic, Mercury, the north node, the part of fortune, and Chiron. All in Leo. Wow.
Even though he’s a Leo sun, he was born at night: the luminary of sect is the moon.
In a night chart like his, the moon is the luminary of sect (the light in the sky). His moon is exalted in Taurus. This is a very vocal moon. Taurus rules the throat. Artistic, Venus-ruled Taurus is one of the zodiac’s crooners.
In a Gemini rising chart, the moon in the Taurus gets comfortable in a very private, secretive place. I reckon there is a lot about this person that we will never know
. Maintaining an air of mystery is one of the 48 Laws of Power. Powerful, famous people often don’t reveal everything about themselves. However secretive and aloof it is, the 12th house is still in the public sector of the chart. Superstars need privacy, but live their lives on display. The 12th house reminds me of a lizard in a terrarium at the zoo, with people tapping on the glass. It’s where people are forced to accept circumstances. It’s a womby place.
The 12th house is the house of public service, so it often shows up in celebrities and politicians charts. His public service? Singing jaunty hot tunes and moving his little coked up body. Or at least that’s what it was.
And even though he is a Leo, the sign of his luminary of sect, Taurus, is important. Mick Jagger’s first wife, Bianca Jagger, is a Taurus, with her Taurus sun on his natal Taurus Mars by degree, and her Taurus sun conjunct his Taurus moon by sign.
Although he is a super-Leo, Taurus is also a pretty important sign in his chart, if not just because of that moon, but also because of the Mars placement that makes a superior square to his Leo stellium.

While his luminary of sect, the moon in Taurus, describes his spirit, the ruler of his Gemini ascendant, Mercury in Leo, describes his physical presence. It describes how his soul’s car is dressed. Mercury is excellent at drag. Drag is part of the act.
I know I set off to discuss Leo, but it’s time to talk about Mick Jagger’s Taurus Mars. He has Mars in Taurus square the ruler of his ascendant, Mercury in Leo, with a difference of one degree.
Mars in Taurus is currently square Mercury in Leo (with a difference of one degree) while I’m writing this.
A keyword of Mars is action or movement. Mercury is communication, so: dancing! Dancing is something he’s famous for. I’m not sure if you’ve heard the famous Maroon 5 smash hit, Moves Like Jagger? Featuring Christina Aguilera? No?
And of course with Uranus (uniqueness) on the ascendant (physical form), the way that he moves is eccentric. Charismatic. Jagger-esque.
Let’s go through his Leo stellium again…
The sun 2º
Jupiter 5º
Pluto 6º
IC 8º
Mercury 10º55’ (so basically 11º)
North node 16º36’
Lot of Fortune 21º17’
Chiron 29º53’
Practically everything in Leo is combust. Except for the node, Ic, and fortune because they are mathematical points and not actual visual stellar bodies. And Chiron is pretty far away from the other planets in Leo.
It’s all under the rays of the sun. When planets are combust, they are not visible. They can’t be seen. This is why they are interpreted as secretive. For example: In Jagger’s chart, Jupiter rules the 7th house of marriage: he had some love affairs which ended his marriages.
Jupiter and Pluto exaggerate everything they touch. The sun is life, life force. The sun, Jupiter, and Pluto together give Mick Jagger a “larger than life” quality. Pluto speaks to an entire generation and can tap into the core of what’s happening. It’s the common vein, the plumbing, the undercurrent.
According to Astro-Wiki their lyrics were about attacking taboos, a Plutonian theme. Jagger has Saturn rising, and Saturn traditionally was the taboo planet. The extreme fame and visibility that Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones managed is Plutonian.
How does combustion fit into the picture? This frontman, this ray of Leo sunshine, could have outshone everything else. By hiding the real message, the real politic, the messy details, behind craft, behind a polished, Apollonian, idealized form (i.e. artwork) he lead a group which became incredibly influential, powerful, Plutonian. It’s also very Jupiterian to smooth over the finer details for the sake of the bigger picture. Or is it solar? This chart blurs them all into one.
Even though Jagger is a Gemini rising, that Mercury, that fine eye for detail, is completely lobotomized by the presence of the sun. It’s a power move, dumbing yourself down or hiding true, boring, technical, realistic thoughts behind a facade of disco and marble. That Mercury in Leo is the source of its own information. The knowledge comes from that coeur de lion, that lion heart. It does not want to answer any further questions.
And the 3rd house is a place of tight-knit, fraternal groups. Although it is associated with communication, it’s the place of siblings, neighbors, roommates, close associates, childhood best friends that have become like siblings. Mick Jagger has a blood brother, Chris Jagger, also a musician.
But I would argue that having bandmates or close associates like that is a 3rd house thing. His relationship with Keith Richards, who co-wrote songs with him for The Rolling Stones, is fraternal and familial. They met when they were children, and therefore are 3rd house, sibling-like friends.
I would argue that Mick Jagger’s chart could show someone who gets attention for other people’s ideas. The ruler of his 7th house of relationships, Jupiter, the planet of beliefs and philosophical vision, is combust (very close to the sun). Jupiter represents other people in his chart. Planets that are combust are invisible. The sun gets all of the attention. Mick Jagger outshined Keith Richards in many ways, and I think he might get more credit for the success of the band, even though it is their collaboration that gave them such massive success.
I would also like to make a note on the sun, Jupiter, and the appropriation of R&B that birthed mainstream rock and roll, and Rolling Stones’ role in the global commercialization of Black music, but I think that Godard film Sympathy for the Devil gets at that in a less didactic, more interesting way.
And all of these planets in Leo wouldn’t be so personal to him if the angle, the Ic, was not there. The angles of a chart are the most personal and close-to-home points. The Ic is what is inherited. It’s the things that we were given from birth, passed along belly button to belly button.
Matters of the Ic are deeply personal, and no matter how famous someone is, no matter how public the details about their life are, this is the most private and hidden point in someone’s chart. I’m not even going to try to speculate the Ic, the private angle, with information that is in the realm of the Mc, the public angle.
Whenever the north node is involved, it can be a marker of fame. The nodes of the moon mark the moon’s orbit. Eclipses, like the sun and moon, deal with themes of visibility and reality. Eclipses can also make things more mysterious because during an eclipse the earth is casting a shadow on the moon. Light is literally occulted during an eclipse. It’s a moment of darkness and being overshadowed. Just a few weeks after he was born, there was an annular solar eclipse in Leo on the degree of his Ic, 8º. Is it that he himself overshadows cultural movements?
His natal moon is at the north bending of the nodes, separating from its closing square to the nodes. According to Kathy Allan, the north bending is a place of outer manifestation. With the luminary of sect, the moon, at the north bending, this is the chart of a highly visible person.
Throw the lot of fortune (aka part of fortune, aka fortuna) into the mix, and Leo is a very good description of who he is. The lot of fortune is another extremely personal point, much like the ascendant, that describes the person’s overall vibe. It’s a succinct description of someone’s physical embodiment of their spiritual energy. Dane Rudhyar wrote in The Lunation Cycle that the lot of fortune describes someone’s character.
Sometimes I read the horoscope for my part of fortune. I hope that someday instead of saying your “big three” you just say your “big one” aka your lot of fortune… No pedestrian person knows their lot of fortune. This is why I don’t go guessing people’s signs.
And how would I describe the sign Leo? I went into all of this technical breakdown of an individual’s chart, but my colleague Annabel Gat and I collaborated on an article that describes the sign itself. It’s way more fun than this fastidious deep read. Check out our newest article on Leo personality traits.
As much fun as I have thinking about Mick Jagger, I have more horoscopes to write now! Please let me know if there are any other Leo superstars that you want me to astrologically dissect. Right now I’m interested in Whitney Houston and Andy Warhol. Maybe Charli XCX, but I am too worried she would actually read it.
Not sure how true this is for Mick Jagger, I’m cold reading his chart and don’t know much outside of that dumb Godard movie I’ve watched for 3 times for some reason.
my mundane astrology brain wants to know what happened during the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction of 1943, what were the circumstances of this star being born?
entered Virgo within 24 hours of his birth, at 1:30AM the following day, so I might be willing to entertain the concept of “cusp” if I take what I learned in Bernadette Brady’s fixed stars/visual astrology class into consideration.
